Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the law firm of Purdy, Jolly, Giuffreda, Barranco & Jisa, P.A. was started in 1976 by former Broward County State Attorney Philip Shailer (now deceased) and former Chief Assistant State Attorney Richard A. Purdy (now deceased). In 1979, Bruce W. Jolly resigned from the Broward County State Attorney’s Office and joined the firm and had a successful career defending law enforcement in civil litigation for more than forty years until his retirement in 2020. Richard A. Giuffreda resigned from the Broward County State Attorney’s Office and joined the firm in 1992 and became a partner in 1997. Mr. Giuffreda is now the senior partner in the firm. Summer M. Barranco joined the firm in 1993, after graduating from Florida State University law school, and became a partner in 2005. Adriana M. Jisa joined the firm in 2003, after graduating from Nova Southeastern University law school, and became a partner in 2018. Christy Imparato joined the firm in 2010, after graduating from Nova Southeastern University law school, and became a partner in 2022. The firm has been actively defending law enforcement officers and agencies since its inception and continues to do so with great determination and success.
